Rap Roll Call...

If I remember right
I remember one time
One time
I watched a performance one night
I remember as I applauded
As I applauded in my head I performed my own instalment
My instalment about the difference between poets and rappers
The difference between real lyrical lyricists and real lyrical actors
As I remember on the night the poet had the audacity
The audacity, to leave out Marshall
I remember I shook my head
As in my head I said let me audacious and say
And say in matter of fact Marshall, Matters
Marshall, Matters and so does
Pac, Nas, Snoop, Hill,
Eve, Mell, Flav, Gill
T.i, Luda, Fiddy, Kweli
Def, Flocka, Soulja, Stalley
Salt, Pepper, Wale, Yeezy
Joey, Jay, Free, Jeezy
Run, Common, Cam, Kelly
Lux, Solomon, Mook, Nelly,
Ness, Tech, Diddy, Busta,
Asap, Gambino, Wu, Bubba
Brown, Cole, Remy Game,
Big Boi, 3000, Dre, Mase
I dreaded it
I dreaded it but I even added Wanye
I dreaded it
I dreaded it but I even added Chains
I remember in my head I said
Poetry and rap are intermixed
Chained together like two slaves
Poetry and rap are interlinked
Every diss-track, Every E.P, Every mix-tape, Every album, Every internet leak
Matters
Its matters because in matter of fact
It’s actually poetry being carried on the back of the beat…

Inspired by Danny Kent
